Touring the Viking Star interiors

Please refer to the "X-Ray pictures" in the Design & Layout section as we tour the ship.

Touring the Viking ship was something that we couldn't stop doing.
Was it the most outstanding piece of engineering  at sea that we have been on?
No.
This is not the Queen Mary 2.
This is not the Allure of the Seas.
But...
A ship that gets you from the first glance, the bright ideas here and there, in every corner - what an enjoyable experience!

The ship's internal  Passenger Space Ratio is impressive 51.6 (48,000 GT / 930 Passengers).
Considering available open decks, the overall public space per passenger is  at a very high mark.

A Ship of Sliding Walls

Viking creators have been inventive making the ship bright, airy, and open to the sea.
There are a lot of sliding doors, sliding walls & windows (and of course a sliding roof) that change smaller spaces into larger spaces, convert closed areas into open areas.

This glass wall that separates the Wintergarden from the main pool area on Deck 7 is actually a set of giant doors.

The Wintergarden is  home of afternoon tea on Viking Ocean ships.

This is a nicely appointed space under the fixed glass roof.
The sliding part of the roof is covering the adjacent pool area.

However the fixture is real, not mythical..

Lanai

"Lanai" on the Viking ocean ships are two lateral passages that bypass the Winter Garden:

These sliding glass walls can connect/separate the Winter Garden and Lanai:

The walls around the Winter Garden can be open any time:

Weather permitting, the glass sidewalls in the buffet can be open too.

We saw these walls open two times (in ports).
The rear wall (facing aft pool) was open almost every day.

The Restaurant.
The sliding windows can be open but not at sea - everything will be "gone with the wind"...

Elevators and Stairs

There are six elevators on the Viking Star. It seems to be well enough for this ship.

Stairs and walls of art.
You will see scenes from the Bayeux Tapestry...
